My hook to hang your eyelet on, 2015, single channel video clip and stills
Total run time: 8:39

Produced with an overhead projector, this video combines collage, drawing, painting, performance, and text. Downey constructs a personal vocabulary of shapes and marks that draw on representations and visceral experiences of Downey’s body. These images come in and out of recognition, bleed, come undone.  Downey uses projection to explore literal and metaphoric ways we expect others to act as containers for gender, memory, or knowledge – and how we exceed these projections. Camera support from Joanna Seitz.
